Are the bane of my life.
It is impossible to run a small business without one.
It uses too much of my meagre income running it, yet without it I have nothing.
Then there are bits of cars...cluttering the Room of Doom which should be a living room, the front hall, the bailey at the back- newly cleared and re-cluttered....the so-called garden, has now a rear beam and attached bits gracing the path, plus other heaps of gubbins. Neither myself or the Carpenter was consulted on this, and it is our home.
Plus whatever bits of car The Oily One has in his bedroom....
I can't afford to keep my car on the road without the mechanical assistance of The Oily One.....
Meanwhile I'm firing a bisque, mainly of pots with writing on....hoping for sales and orders....

When I finally re-settle I hope to get rid of my car. I love the independence it affords and enjoy driving it (most of the time) but wow, does it drain my pocket and I begrudge needing one where we live. (No pavements or public transport).
It's always more enjoyable on a bike but they do have their limits - as do we, sadly. I'm afraid cars are necessary evils, especially if self-employed and having to travel around for business. Good luck with the order searching etc.
The one thing that will get me in a blind panic is car trouble. I lose all sense of proportion, all reason, all sense.
The only car-free potter I know lives in Cardiff...easy deliveries and collections and can hire a van if need be.
I couldn't live in a city again.
cars are money pits but we couldn't live without them either... and I am with you, I couldn't handle living in the city. I love to visit, but enjoy coming home to the country
we have a battered berlino...
its had everything including 2 pigs in the back of it!!!!!!!!!
Room of Doom
hee hee I have one of those too!
JG isn't that just a posh 2CV?!!
I am with you - can't live with them, can't live without them. I try to walk as much as I can get away with, but to transport anything major - sadly the car is the easiest method.
Nothing worse than a machine that doesn't work. I used to adopt the Basil Faulty method with mine. My present vehicle, luckily, is trouble free! (fingers crossed)
Oh I know, it would be so much easier without, and more fun to just have bikes and ponies!
Oh how I'd love to live without a car, but am married to a driver. We just have a work vehicle, though, sold our van. Cuts down on personal costs.
Room of Doom. Brilliant. I have 2 Closets of Doom -- but then I live by myself.
