Aurora...or not!

First the sun going down

And then sunset at just after 10pm

I did happen to wake at 2am....but the clouds had come over...and all I could see was street light glow

Never mind...I have seen some fantastic photos from friends and learned that the aurora colours are related to how high the activity is..I think green is the lowest.

I just posted some pics on my blog. The colours were intense.

I hope that in your life time you've seen the real thing as far as northern lights are concerned. There's too much light here to see northern lights but I've seen them many times.

Never knowingly, Red.
Sometimes in one direction in the distance from here..but there is so much light pollution I can never be sure.
In theory I should be able to see The Dancers quite frequently here

You must be high enough to see them lots of times
I’m sure you’ll see them again quicker than I will. We are just out of the normal range

We went on a search after seeing wonderful photos the first night from not too far away. Even though we got far from city lights we never found it. Sigh. Well, no photos but it was a fun search!

I've enjoyed the photos of others'. When I looked early in night, I knew I couldn't make it to watch for a long time, so went to bed. Goodness, our dark is around 9 these days. You get more daylight!

Barbara we get more now...we are further north than you I should think....but a lot less in the winter

I saw them for the first time ever ... to far south to be spectacular -- but it was fun .... more this evening if I get up and the clouds stay away ...

Having wanted to see them since I first heard of them, then to have them far enough down to actually see them for real - was just incredible.
