yet again no pictures

Looks like The Wizzard and The Carpenter have backed up too securely when they did the update before the monitor died.

Hopefully they will be able to sort it at teatime. I need to contribute to a photomontage tribute To Col.

It has begun to heat up now, at last! High pressure has arrived for a few days and has brought the warmth and also interference with radio and mobile signals!! Keeping the balance as ever!!

I should get some ripe strawberries by tomorrow!! I have picked some redcurrants and a few blackcurrants. I don't mind the blackbirds having *some*.....

I've dug a fair bit this morning, of the bed where the tin sheeting was stacked before going off to earn us some cash! It is a good bed, and the celery can go in there, and carrots and parsley.
I think I have some fleece to protect all from the dreaded carrot fly!!

Good to hear the weather's good with you all over in Wales. If nothing else, it'll please our daughter over near Cardigan! Here the blackbirds strip the Cherries almost as they appear to ripen. In this endeavour they're ably assisted by starlings and, currently, a Green Woodpecker - can forgive almost anything for the sight of those vibrant, verdant colours : I, too, don't mind this much, but it would be nice to actually have/taste a few before they disappear!

Which reminds me, must net the Morello cherry tree...
I have the advantage of being up a slope in the allotments, an use deep beds AND have a fairly early strawberry variety ( don't know the name)...so I cheat!!

What does the fleece do for carrot fly? Do you mean sheeps fleece? Wow! strawberries already...you are much further up the road than we are but the temps are supposed to soar this weekend. Thanks for the link to all the wonderful B & W photographers. When I get my old camera I will definitely ask them questions!

You can put horticultural fleece over the top (it looks like ground cover but it is white) so long as it doesn't touch the leaves. Or, you can put a barrier round the plot, as the flies are not supposed to fly over two foot above the ground!
