Sorting

Our Fife friend came over today and we spent most of the day sorting through boxes of bike bits...a decent amount has gone to the bin, tools sorted out things to keep and things to clean and sell.

Some things other friends will want to buy. A decent amount will go on fleabay or farcebook groups relevant to the bits.

Some things would only go in a Cycle Jumble.

Still more to do, but we have sorted through a large amount.

This is a big job...but this is my inheritance from Pirate...and my job is to maximise its value.

He did like giving me a challenge and this is a corker!!  He also knew that if he had given this to his children, most of it would not be respected.....or appreciated.

Yes, I can understand about his children. They would probably not have a clue. Mine think that most of what I have is junk, but almost everything I own outside of my clothes is vintage or antique and has some value. I have told them to get an auctioneer to deal with it.

A huge job by the sounds of it. I’m glad you are not just throwing it all away.
I’m sure those the receive some will be very grateful

Sorting things and selling them to people that will enjoy them and use them well is very satisfying. It is a big job and I am glad you have some help.

Well done.

Sorting through lots of bits is a big job. I'm glad you have a friend to help. Buyers will come and new owners will utilize their purchases which is quite satisfying for you as the seller.

I wonder if you could sell the lot of it to a large bike-repair shop? Might save you the trouble of having to put it online piecemeal, though I know that is a hobby of sorts. :)

Much of what I have wouldn't be wanted...and is more specialised and not modern kit. We don't really have that sort of bike repair shop, most deal with modern stuff.
Repairing and restoring retro gear is more for an individual, or individual business....I know one well and may offer him some things

Oh Pirate. His name brings back so many memories. And I knew (of) him only a relatively short time. Good luck with your inheritance from him!

I agree with you about showing respect to the possessions of people who have passed away. They can often do good and please other people too.
