Visiting and gardening

I went to Street today, with brother and an artist friend from Yeovil..

We went to see Eddie Daughton, a very tall and very talented..and very wise potter!

We talked for well over two hours...and could have gone on...but artist friend had to go to a teaching job.

Cosmic Chuckle.. although they didn't know each other...he had worked at the same college until 10 years ago...that she has just finishing working at!!

It is great talking with Eddie and his wife...about anything...and conversations range far and wide.

Just great.

Then this afternoon I have been weeding and cutting back brambles for brother...he is always too busy to garden and it had got a little jungly!!

We always did end up gardening wherever we stayed...just carrying on

His turn next as his meadow is due for its September trim.

Seems like a lovely day filled with good conversation, gardening and pottery.

So glad you're having this time with your brother and fellow potters. You needed it.

There are great conversations between people with similar interests. They are good and you learn.

Tis the season for meadow mowing and bramble bashing, although after its end of August cut our meadow is already re-flowering with dandelions and tall wiry cat’s ear, pink clover, purple self-heal and white yarrow and the butterflies are back - blues, whites, meadow browns and a Peacock yesterday. The brambles around the edge have been insane this season and my hands are punctured with tiny thorns despite glove wearing. Is Muchelney pottery (John Leach) in the Somerset Levels still going? And is this weather in Scotland usual? Daughter in Aberdeen was basking in 25 degrees yesterday. No wonder she sees dolphins on her morning beach walks. Sarah in Sussex

John is sadly no longer with us, but his granddaughter has recently joined the pottery in Muchelney...another generation carrying on
