Two of my teammates were racing in a time trial today so I went to support..gave them an encouraging shout a mile after the start then went to the headquarters...there was parking at the end but not much.
It was the Scottish Olympic distance championship...a new one for me, but it has been going for about 8 years here..25km or just over 15 miles...on a circuit, so not an out and back, with the first half a steady drag, mostly climbing...and the second half wiggly and a bit hilly...you could describe it as "cut and come again"...
It was well run, by an enthusiastic, new to the job, organiser
Medals and prizes awarded
And a jersey awarded for the 2017 event... because of an oversight at the time...
But just as important as the awards....the socialising...
The HQ was the bowls club clubhouse....two sports working together...and as the presentation went on, bowls club members were playing!
I fancied lunch out after that...but when I got to Prestwick ( after negotiating all the lane and speed limit changes put in ready for the golf open comps) both the chipptoies were shut! ... soup and sandwich in one of our usual haunts it was before returning home.
It feels odd returning to a house with no-one waiting for you...
But there are little things that make you feel his presence.

A good day's outing! And yes, how odd that would be to return home, and no one there to tell your day's stories to. Hugs, gz. As you say, his presence is still with you.
Nice event and it sounds like you had a very good time. Sharing the same interest with others is always wonderful. The feeling of loss of a loved one comes in waves (for me). In time the waves lessen. Loss is hard.
Nice day out. Sounds rather like an event Vic used to organise
Andrea it did feel like that..the organiser was one who had been friendly with Vic for quite a while.. hopefully others will be learning from his example.
The organiser, like Vic used to do, had been round all the houses and farms on the course and spoken to every one .
