Woodland Walk yesterday..Ayr River Way (image heavy!)

Yesterday, after son#2 headed for home we went for a walk.. something different was requested as we had already been around Hannahston.

Brother consulted walking routes online...and we headed for Failford near Mauchline to walk a section of the River Ayr Way that I had never been on. The only time Pirate had thought of doing it a few years ago all the few parking spaces were full....

It took us 1¾ hours...much up and down as this was by the Gorge....but set us up ready for supper after a long day sitting around.

Blogger has put the photos on back to front again...I tried to be clever and choose them in reverse order....so just read them from the last upwards 😎😄

Another closed pub.

That looks like a good walk. It may have been overcast but such great views.

What a lovely walk in Pirate's memory.

Another closed pub sounds like rural Ireland. Super photos.

Stunning pictures. Although those thorns look very nasty
Why are all the pubs closing?

Angela it was bad before the pandemic lockdown..now it is worse.
Fewer people going out. Fewer going out of town to a pub. Inflation and recession being the last straw to many

The trails through the woodlands are wonderful. Walking in the forest and observing the growth and wildlife is always enjoyed. Are you near enough to the trails to use them frequently?

It looks a lovely walk, reminds me of some of our Whangarei walks.

Lovely walk! Looks pretty steep, I think?

Susan the trail is along the River Ayr from source to sea..not always right by the river but near enough.
This bit is twenty minutes drive from home
