Hari OM It depends on when you took it. It could also be reflecting the street lights of Ayr (or whichever of the larger towns was in the direction you were pointing the lens). YAM xx

I thought that..but Kilmarnock is further to the right.
Prestwick is a little to the left, Ayr further left...

That is a beautiful dark sky. Very much a contrast to some of the other photos you have posted.
Hmmmm...I'm guessing aurora would be more from above, rather than right at the horizon? Probably sunlight. That's my guess.
I remember reading that red aurora lights are highest up in the air, while green are lower down.
Hmmm, it's an enigma, isn't it?
