Think of the ponies on the Mountain,
wind blowing in their manes,
moving free where they will,
gleaming in Summer, hairy in Winter.

They still need care and attention,
to see that all is well,
to move them from harm.

See their family groups of
several generations.
caring, nurturing, bickering
as families do.

Have them come to see you
and acknowledge you as friend.
That gladdens the heart
and fills the soul.

I know the feeling you describe, for me, it is quite humbling.
